On the E210 Corolla the starter is a straightforward two-bolt, two-wire unit bolted to the rear of the transaxle bellhousing, but Toyota buried it where you cannot see it and barely reach it. Almost all of the work is dropping the plastic engine under-cover, then feeding a 14 mm socket up there on long extensions with a wobble adapter. Nothing has to be drained and no transaxle work is involved.
