Tire rotation on the XV70 Camry is about as simple as car maintenance gets — five 21 mm lug nuts per corner, same on the 2.5, the V6 and the hybrid. Toyota's maintenance schedule calls for it every 5,000 miles alongside the oil service, and doing it yourself takes under an hour once you know where the jack points are.
The two things people get wrong: lifting the car on the soft rocker panel instead of the reinforced pinch weld notch (the plastic cladding hides it, so feel for the notch), and blasting the lug nuts on with an impact gun. Camrys of this generation are sensitive to uneven clamp load and will develop a brake pedal pulse. Use a torque wrench at 76 ft-lb in a star pattern and re-check after a hundred miles.
| Item | Type | |
|---|---|---|
| Tire pressure gauge Digital or dial, 0-60 psi Check and set pressures before and after; door placard is usually 35 psi front and rear. | Required | shop |
| Breaker bar 1/2 in drive, 18-24 in Loosen lug nuts while the wheels are still on the ground. | Required | shop |
| Lug nut socket 21 mm 6-point, 1/2 in drive, thin-wall or nylon-sleeved Fits the XV70 lug nuts; thin-wall protects alloy wheel pockets. | Required | shop |
| Floor jack 2 ton, low profile, rubber pad Lifts the car at the pinch weld or the center lift points. | Required | shop |
| Jack stands Pair (or two pairs), 2 ton, with rubber pads Support the car safely while wheels are off. | Required | shop |
| Pinch weld jack pad Slotted rubber puck for pinch weld Keeps the jack and stands from crushing the Camry's thin pinch weld seam. | Recommended | shop |
| Wheel chocks Pair, rubber or plastic Block the wheels still on the ground before lifting. | Safety | shop |
| Torque wrench 1/2 in drive, 20-150 ft-lb, click type Set lug nuts to 76 ft-lb in a star pattern; overtightening warps rotors. | Required | shop |
| Wire brush Small hand brush Clean rust and grit off the hub face so the wheel seats flat. | Recommended | shop |
| Anti-seize or hub paste Copper-free, for hub centering ring only Thin smear on the hub center bore (never on studs or nut seats) stops wheels seizing on. | Consumables | shop |
| Tread depth gauge 0-25/32 in Check wear differences while the wheels are off and decide if rotation pattern needs adjusting. | Recommended | shop |
| Air compressor or inflator 12 V or shop compressor Reset pressures after rotating; rear tires often run a bit low. | Recommended | shop |
| Gloves Mechanic's or nitrile Brake dust and hot wheels. | Safety | shop |
No difference between the 2.5 A25A-FKS, 3.5 2GR-FKS and the hybrid — all XV70 Camrys use M12x1.5 studs with 21 mm lug nuts torqued to 76 ft-lb. Wheel sizes vary (16, 17, 18 and 19 inch depending on LE/SE/XSE/TRD), which only affects tire pressure on the door placard and whether the tires are directional.
| Wheel lug nuts (all XV70 Camry, M12x1.5) | 76 ft-lb (103 Nm) |
The 21 mm lug nut size, M12x1.5 studs and 76 ft-lb (103 Nm) torque are standard across all 2018-2024 Camry trims and engines; confirm the pressure figure on your own door jamb placard since 18, 17 and 19 inch fitments can differ.
21 mm. Use a 6-point thin-wall or nylon-sleeved socket on 1/2 inch drive so you do not scuff the alloy wheel's lug pockets.
76 ft-lb (103 Nm) for all trims and engines, tightened in a star pattern with the car on the ground. Re-torque after 50-100 miles.
There are reinforced pinch weld notches just behind the front wheels and just ahead of the rear wheels, plus center lift points at the front subframe and the rear suspension member. Use a slotted pad on the pinch weld so you do not fold the seam.
No relearn is needed for a simple rotation on the standard system — the Camry does not display per-corner positions on most trims. Just set the pressures to the door placard value and, if the light stays on, hold the TPMS reset button (under the steering column or in the menu) with the ignition on until the light blinks three times.
