You put a 14 mm socket on the tensioner pulley bolt, swing the arm with a long breaker bar or a serpentine belt tool, and the belt comes off. The 2.7L 2TR-FE is the friendlier of the two; the 3.5L 2GR-FKS sits behind a mechanical fan and shroud that most people end up removing to get a clean swing at the tensioner.
The mistake that costs people a second trip out to the driveway is routing. Photograph the belt before you touch it, and after installing the new one look at the crank pulley from underneath with a light — a belt that is one rib off the crank will run for a minute and then shred.
