The sizes are identical across the 2.0 L K20C2 and the 1.5 L turbo, and across LX through Touring.

The catch is the electric parking brake, which is standard on the whole generation. There is no hidden dash menu and no manual wind-back — you need a bidirectional scan tool that supports Honda EPB service mode to retract the actuator before you touch the caliper and to re-calibrate it after. The mistake people make is buying pads and rotors first and then discovering the piston will not move; the second most common mistake is not cleaning the rust off the hub face, which shows up later as brake pulsation.

Differences within the 2022-2024 generation

Fastener sizes do not change between the 1.5 L turbo and the 2.0 L K20C2 — 12 mm caliper bolts, 17 mm bracket bolts, 19 mm lug nuts throughout. What changes is rotor size: LX/Sport/EX/Touring use roughly 282 mm solid rear discs, while Si and Type R use larger 305 mm rear discs with different pads and calipers (Type R uses Brembo fronts but a standard-style EPB rear). Measure your rotor diameter before ordering parts.

How the job goes

  1. With the car on the ground, crack the rear lug nuts loose about a quarter turn each.
  2. Chock the front wheels, turn the ignition on (engine off), plug in the scan tool and run the EPB service/maintenance mode to retract the parking brake actuators. Wait for the tool to confirm retraction and leave the ignition on/tool connected as the tool instructs.
  3. Lift the rear with the floor jack at the designated pinch-weld points and set both sides on jack stands. Remove the rear wheels.
  4. Inspect: check the brake hose, the EPB motor connector and the pad wear before going further.
  5. Hold the lower caliper guide pin with the 14 mm open-end wrench and remove the lower 12 mm caliper bolt, then the upper one. Pivot the caliper up and off.
  6. Support the caliper with a bungee cord from the spring or upper arm. Do not let it hang on the brake hose or the EPB motor wiring.
  7. Slide the old pads out of the bracket and note where the shims and clips sit.
  8. Remove the two 17 mm caliper bracket bolts from the knuckle and lift the bracket off.
  9. Remove the rotor retaining screw if fitted (impact driver, No. 3 Phillips or 8 mm hex). Pull the rotor off; if seized, thread M8 x 1.25 bolts into the service holes and tighten them evenly, or tap the rotor face with a dead blow hammer.
  10. Clean the hub face and the hub center spigot down to bare metal with a wire brush or hub disc. A flat, rust-free hub is what keeps runout and pedal pulsation away.
  11. Wipe a thin film of anti-seize on the hub center bore only — nothing on the mating face or the studs.
  12. Fit the new rotor, install and torque the retaining screw to 7 ft-lb if used, or hold the rotor with a lug nut while you work.
  13. Clean the new rotor faces with brake cleaner to remove the shipping oil.
  14. Clean the caliper bracket, fit new abutment clips, and lightly grease the pad ear contact points. Reinstall the bracket and torque the 17 mm bolts to spec.
  15. Pull the guide pins out, check the boots, clean them and apply silicone caliper grease, then refit. They must slide freely by hand.
  16. Fit the new pads with their shims. Check the piston is fully retracted; if not, seat it gently with a pad spreader — never wind or force a motor-driven EPB piston.
  17. Refit the caliper over the pads and torque both 12 mm guide-pin bolts to 17 ft-lb while holding the pins with the 14 mm wrench.
  18. Repeat on the other side.
  19. Refit the wheels, lower the car, and torque the lug nuts to 80 ft-lb in a star pattern.
  20. Use the scan tool to exit EPB service mode and run the parking brake calibration/initialization. Cycle the EPB switch several times and confirm no warning lights.
  21. Pump the brake pedal until firm before moving the car, then check the fluid level.
  22. Bed the brakes in: roughly 6-8 moderate stops from 40 mph to 10 mph with cool-down between, then avoid holding the brakes at a stop for a few miles.
