Front brakes on the T1 Silverado are one of the friendlier jobs on this truck. The caliper comes off two guide pin bolts with a 3/8 in hex bit, the bracket comes off with a 21 mm socket, and the rotor just slides off — there is no retaining screw and no electronic retract procedure, because the electric parking brake on these trucks only works the rear calipers. Budget most of your time for rust, not fasteners.
The two things people get wrong: they skip cleaning the hub face, then chase a brake pulsation that is really lateral runout from rust trapped under the new rotor; and they under-torque the caliper bracket bolts because they used a 3/8 in ratchet instead of a torque wrench. Also order parts by measuring your old rotor — the heavy-duty/Max Trailering brake package uses a larger front rotor than the base setup, and the parts counter will often hand you the wrong one based on VIN alone.
